TRIPLE FISHER
w/ filmmaker Dan Kapelovitz in attendance
$10, no refunds or exchanges.

A scathing critique/celebration of early-'90s tabloid culture, twenty years in the making!  In 1992, Long Island teenager Amy Fisher ignited a media firestorm when she shot her lover's wife in the face.  This sordid tale of underage sex, aggravated assault, and Joey Buttafuoco managed to spawn not one, not two, but three separate made-for-TV movies  a television first.  Drew Barrymore (THE AMY FISHER STORY), Alyssa Milano (CASUALTIES OF LOVE: THE "LONG ISLAND LOLITA" STORY) and NoĆ«lle Parker (LETHAL LOLITA  AMY FISHER: MY STORY) all took stabs at portraying the disturbed teen, yet a true on-screen depiction of Amy Fisher has never emerged  until now.  In this "Rashomon-like retelling of a story which didn't really need to be told in the first place" (SF Weekly), director Dan Kapelovitz ("Threee Geniuses") mind-melds the multiple melodramas into one ultimate metadrama mashup which was described in the pages of the Wall Street Journal as "a subversive mash-up that unspools like a Lifetime movie fever dream, with its labyrinth of duplicating lurid set-pieces taking on the tone of a noirish nightmare, reaching a frenzied schizo climax that would make Brian De Palma proud."

Dan Kapelovitz grew up on the mean streets of unincorporated Arapahoe County in Colorado.  He studied film at Wesleyan University, where his thesis film "The Bastard Son of a Virgin Whore" won the Frank Capra Award for Best Comedy.  From 1996 to 2006, Kapelovitz produced nearly two hundred episodes of the highly influential experimental TV shows "Threee Geniuses" and "Kapelovision" while working numerous odd jobs, such as grocery delivery boy, human test subject, and Features Editor of Hustler Magazine.  Today, Kapelovitz is a criminal defense attorney in Hollywood.  He is currently working on his next film project, "48 Hrs. Literally," a film based on the 1982 Eddie Murphy/Nick Nolte action comedy that will literally have a running time of 48 hours.

Doors at 9:30, Movie at 10:00.
