Seussical at BCS Theatre

You are invited to come enjoy the delightful Broadway musical "Seussical", one of the most performed musicals in America. It's an entertaining, fantastical mash-up of 15 of your favorite Dr. Seuss books; you'll see the Cat in the Hat, Horton the Elephant, Gertrude McFuzz, the Whos with the Grinch, Circus McGurkus, McElligot's Pool, and more as they all imagine a fun-filled, fast-paced story suitable for the whole family.

As typical with Dr. Seuss, all sorts of madcap adventures happen along the way. The plot-line begins with Horton saving the tiny Who community which is practically invisible, causing all of Horton's friends think he's crazy. All except for Gertrude, his next door neighbor friend who wants him to notice her. Meanwhile, in tiny Who-ville, the Mayor's young kid gets into some Cat-inspired trouble by imagining McElligot's Pool, and gets sent off to join the comical Who military which leads to near disaster. But, of course, it's young JoJo who saves the day in the climax of the story. Along the way, the Whos get hijacked from Horton who tries to rescue them, but ends up good-naturedly babysitting an egg in a tree, leading to him being captured and joining the Circus McGurkus. Gertrude, after learning important lessons in self-acceptance, helps Horton and becomes a true friend as he faces the biggest problems of his life.

The musical brims with lively songs, touching ballads, and creative choreography, presented by talented, energetic high school actors in colorful costumes on a creative set with dazzling lights, all accompanied by a 20 piece orchestra. It features universal themes of the importance of community, caring for others, being true to your word, exercising your imagination, and being true to yourself without needing a superficial façade.
