PARCHUTE MARKET
Let There Be Light, is the third edition of Parachute Market taking place at 405 Mateo Street from March 22 - 23, 2014 in the Arts District of Downtown Los Angeles. The seasonally inspired design fair and marketplace showcases furniture, objects, fine arts, sculpture and fashion by emerging and established artists, designers and collectors. Conceptualized by Parachute Market founder and creative director Coryander Friend, Let There Be Light celebrates Spring - the season of light - and will explore the interpretation of light used within design. Participating artists and designers will develop their work in a way that relates to the season's theme and will present work that demonstrate their interpretation of light in design.

"The theme Let There Be Light was developed after thinking about the Spring season and adding an hour of light back into our day. It made me think of creation and light and those who design in light," stated Friend. Nearly doubling the roster of participating designers, makers and artists, the spring equinox design fair will showcase new offerings from BZIPPY & Co., Brendan Ravenhill, For Your Art, Brook & Lyn, Doug Mccollough (DMDM), Ermie and more. The complete list of participants can be found at www.parachutemarket.com. The show continues to host A Current Affair's Richard Wainwright as a featured partner with an area dedicated to vintage fashion. Site-specific light installations will be on display from Milan based Johanna Grawunder, originally from the Bay area, and Doron Gazit who is designing an air-chitecture piece that will stretch the length of the marketplace. Tahiti Pehrson is creating an intricate paper installation, filling the aerial space above the market. On the ground and new this spring is Parachute Edibles, an upgraded dining experience by Nina Clemente featuring communal tables and artisanal vendors grouped together through thoughtful taste pairings, including ramen burgers and beer, cheeses, wines and breads, almond milk and cookies, and other specialties. Trisha Mazure, landscape architect and head gardener at The Ranch in Malibu, will be installing fruit trees and herb bundles. Music curation will be presented by Phil Hoelting of FYF Fest.

Parachute Market satisfies the demand for accessible and exciting design for the next-generation collector. The two-day event offers a well-curated platform to discover and acquire a selection of the most inventive decorative design happening today.
