The Creative Sector Summit is an opportunity for networking and creative problem solving: for cross pollination, education, creation of sector advocacy, collaboration on initiatives and programs, to maximize funding opportunities, and as an opportunity for non-arts organizations and economic drivers to work with the sector more effectively. With more and more national organizations realizing the incredible community building and economic development powers of creativity and the arts, it is imperative that Asheville (and beyond) galvanize and cooperate to make the most of the opportunities this recognition and its associated funds and resources represents.
Visitors coming to our region represent a huge potential customer base for our creative businesses. The Asheville Convention and Visitor's Bureau and Tourism Development Authority have done a lot to put Asheville in front of the rest of the nation as a great place to visit, and our musicians, artists, arts presenters, and independent creative businesses play a crucial role in fulfilling the expectations that visitors have once they arrive. More and more, visitors are seeking an authentic and interactive experience when they travel. Asheville has all it takes to provide a spectacular fulfillment experience, and the Summit in 2014 will facilitate a stronger relationship between the creative sector and the tourism industry, for the enhanced ability of both to meet customer need.
