Director: Ami Drozd / Starring: Jakub Wróblewski, Lukasz Sikora, Aleksandra Popławska
2011 Israel, Poland / Polish and Hebrew w/English subtitles / 97 minutes
In 1960s Poland a mother spends most of her time working to provide for her 12- and 15-year-old sons, Tadek and Andrzej. They're arrested after their neo-Nazi gang vandalizes property and attacks kids in a Jewish neighborhood. Once she gets them released their mother reveals she is a Jew who survived the Holocaust and raised them Catholic to protect them. She decides they must emigrate, saying they're going to Australia. When Tadek learns the truth, that they're moving to Israel, he's outraged. Family, home and identity are explored with sensitivity and humor through the brothers' adventures.
