Miss Smith's Featured Performers Showcase
Friday, March 28, 8pm Sharp. Don't be late. At the Shari Carlson Studio San Francisco 442 Post Street @ Powell, 5th Floor
This is a small venue that gets hot no matter what we do so dress in layers. There will be one, 15-minute intermission. This is a sober event. Possibly sobering, as well.
Miss Smith hosts a monthly Adult Music Class and Open Mic in San Francisco, but this time, we're putting on a show! Miss Smith's is a great place to practice the art of performance and each class has a featured performer. SO all the featured performers are getting together to show off and raise money for a great cause.
100% of the tax-deductible proceeds from this show will benefit the 501c3 nonprofit One Minute Gardener. Read more about this great program for kids at www.oneminutegardener.com.
This Featured Performers Showcase includes the following performers: Joe Engle John Gullotto Shane Kroll Brian Murakami Dave Woemmel Jeff Becker Paul Frantz Joe Rosenmayer Lorenzo Ramsey Parul Araquistain and Miss Smith!
The Featured Performer for the evening will be Dorothy Endow (Dottie). Don't miss this great evening of live performance by Miss Smith's brightests from 2012-2013.
ABOUT MISS SMITH'S Miss Smith's Adult Music Class and Open Mic is designed to offer a venue to practice the art of public performance. Most open mic nights are held in venues with dark lighting and alcohol. While this is certainly one type of audience with which to practice performance, it does not authentically prepare a performer for an audience that is quiet, staring at you and not drunk. Well, mostly not drunk. The "class" part involves brief lectures by Miss Smith on various subjects such as how to audition, read music, etc. Led with humor from the piano, Stephanie Lynne Smith is "Miss Smith," the drill sergeant with a heart of gold.
Miss Smith pretends to hate children. She doesn't hate children. She just hates yours. So please, leave yours at home.
WHEN ATTENDING CLASSES There is no censorship of subject matter. Please keep your monologue, song, poem, sermon or the like to 5 minutes. If you need to practice something longer, please let Miss Smith know in advance and she will design the class accordingly. If you would like to know what kind of music is appropriate for Miss Smith to play, please watch this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=__FNCInnSKg
