LA Women's Fest Shorts Program Five
Without Words
Celeste has avoided speaking to her step-brother Gary since an incident five years ago left them questioning their already complicated relationship. But when their parents' tenth wedding anniversary approaches, Celeste and Gary are forced to break their five year silence. While the two try to remain cordial for the sake of planning the anniversary party, their unresolved past keeps threatening to resurface, which will either bring them closer together, or drive them further apart.

The Promise
This short film shows the power of unconditional love as an old man struggles to take care of his wife suffering from Alzheimer's disease. One day his wife disappears and after hours of frantically searching , he finds her in the place  where they first met humming her favorite song. She can't remember her husband but she can still feel his love.

Sugar
SUGAR, tells the story of a lone girl (Kalia Prescott, THE HUNGER GAMES), orphaned as a child, struggling to survive in a society wrought with violence where people employ a kill first ask questions later mentality. Haunted by nightmarish visions of finding her parents dead at a young age, Sugar awakens to find herself hungry and desperate for nourishment. Her quest for food and water leads her to a new discovery that shows perhaps not everyone is as they seem and explores just how far a simple idea planted in the mind of a child can linger and grow.

For The Love of Food
Food journalist Mary has an obsession with...food. But when her job fails to support her love of all things gourmet, she seeks out Graham, a dumpster-diving grocery-conning artist, to help her with a catering-scamming plot that only a duo could pull off. Their mutual love for free food will bring them closer than they expected.

Granted
Following the worst game of charades they've ever played, Veronica's determined to cheer her husband Paul up for his birthday after their embarrassing loss. Problem is, Paul won't just say what he wants! Grudgingly, Paul heads to the store with Veronica for a shopping trip she hopes will spark liveliness back into their relationship. On the brink of a shopping meltdown, Veronica encounters the mystical salesclerk Dara, who gives her the power to see Paul's true wish. Now Veronica thinks she's nailed it, but Paul's true wish isn't the only wish she needs to discover; she finds that she wants something too.
