CT-SWaM & Eyebeam Present: Spatial Sound Composition
In this week-long multi-session workshop, sound artists and composers will develop individual (or collaborative) spatial sound compositions. Participants will perform their works in a public performance for the ongoing event series CT-SWaM (Contemporary Temporary - Sound Works and Music) at Eyebeam.

For most artists who are working with sound, it is still very challenging to gain access to a proper space and a larger number of powerful and balanced loudspeakers in order to properly experiment and to develop ideas. The Spatial Sound Composition workshop will therefore provide the technical infrastructure and also an environment for discussion, contextual placements and an insight into the theory and history of this specific field.

A large part of the workshop will be dedicated to hands-on practice to explore different systems, as well as individual work sessions and work-in-progress presentations by participants.

In the evening on Monday there will be a public presentation of all pieces developed during the workshop as part of the concert series CT-SWaM. The performances will be multi-track recorded and made available for each participant.

Daniel Neumann is a sound artist and versatile sound engineer who has worked on many projects in the field, eg. Oktophonie by Stockhausen at the Park Ave Armory, the New York City Electroacoustic Music Festival, Luigi Nono at Judson Church, Sunday Sessions at the PS1 Dome, Kraftwerk at MoMA; curated sound art since 2006 and presented his own performance and installation work internationally.
