Tri-County Symphonic Band - Celebrating the Music of Andrew Lloyd Webber - March 19, 2023
Andrew Lloyd Webber has composed twenty-one musicals, a song cycle, a set of variations, two film scores, and a Latin Requiem Mass. In 2001, The New York Times referred to him as the most commercially successful composer in history. The Daily Telegraph ranked him the fifth most powerful person in British culture and in 2008, lyricist Don Black wrote Andrew more or less single-handedly reinvented the musical. This concert will focus on four of his most innovative scores: Jesus Christ Superstar (1970); Evita (1976); Cats (1981) and The Phantom of the Opera (1986). As an acknowledgement of the opera theme, clarinetist from the United States Coast Guard Band, Chief Musician Charlie Suriyakham will perform Fantasia Da Concerto su motivi del Rigoletto di Guiseppe Verdi by Alamiro Giampieri.
