The world is a mysterious place when seen through the eyes of an animal. EO, a grey donkey with melancholic eyes, meets good and bad people on his lifes path, experiences joy and pain, endures the wheel of fortune randomly turn his luck into disaster and his despair into unexpected bliss. But not even for a moment does he lose his innocence.
The latest movie from the great Polish director Jerzy Skolimnowski whos oeuvre consists of one brilliant piece after another every decade or so. This time its a story told through the eyes of a donkey who experiences good and evil, joy and pain, chance and grace. This is Skolimnowskis meditation on the genius that is Robert Bressons Au Hasard Balthazar. Not to be missed.
