See Betty Boop in her wild youth, from the earliest appearances to the artistic peak that made her a cultural icon. Jazzy, surreal, inventive and sometimes a little PG-13, these cartoons by the legendary Fleischer brothers are among the best ever made. Tonight's program spans Betty's introduction through the end of the "pre-Code" era. After that, Hollywood censorship took hold, and never again would she dance with such anarchic grace, master artistry, or plain ol' panache. Film prints!
