Andrea will be joined by Aubrey Weger on vocals and violin for an unforgettable concert. The breathtakingly beautiful, spunky and poignant folk duo Keller and Griffin Partners in Injury LLC will kick things off at 3 PM. Andrea (Sorum) Borealis is a Minneapolis folk singer, mother and post-viral illness warrior. Her clairvoyant voice has been described as enthralling and her award-winning songs timeless, as if they had always existed. Her mercurial lyrics are a love letter to paradox; there is no manifesto here.
Still in the midst of a medical saga, she perspicaciously threads the needle between the vitality of her own heart and body and the health of the community and systems she belongs to. The preachers daughter comes through in crowd sing-alongs (Dont let the machine get you down) and Gospel-inspired ballads (I trust my body).
The world-weary but still magnanimous chanteuse delivers songs like I just wanna love without apology for the soaring Alleluia chorus that slips into and interrupts her despair: In this zero-sum world thats never safe - I just wanna love.
The ease with which she spins and weaves her effervescent soprano with an earthy, evocative chest voice is a credit to her background as a community song-leader.
