A Valentine's evening with A Band Beyond Description
A Band Beyond Description (BBD) has been a local fixture in the Portland Music scene since 2001, and has been playing at the Big Easy on Market Street every Thursday for the last 6+ years. BBD is a Grateful Dead cover band, yet their repertoire also includes other bands such as the Allman Brothers, The Band, Bob Dylan, and the Meters. BBD consists of Chris Dow on drums, Mark McKelvey on bass, Tom Faunce on guitar, and Tim Sullivan on guitar.
Combined, the list of musicians the members of BBD has shared the stage with is impressive: Gregg Allman - Allman Bros, Warren Haynes - Gov't Mule/Allman Bros, John Popper - Blues Traveler, Chris Barron - Spin Doctors, Tom Constanten - Grateful Dead, Vince Welnick - Grateful Dead, Russ Lawton and Ray Paczkowski - Soule Monde, and the Trey Anastasio Band, Glen Da Costa - Bob Marley and the Wailers, Jonathan Edwards, Guster, Ray LaMontagne and many more!
These four seasoned musicians who make up BBD have long shared a love of the Grateful Dead's songs and spirit; evident in every note of every song they play.
