Kantorei KC: Collective Effervescence
Works by Giaches de Wert, B.E. Boykin, Aaron Copland, Bach, Byrd and more!
Collective effervescence is a sociological concept coined by Émile Durkheim. According to Durkheim, a community or society may at times come together and simultaneously communicate the same thought and participate in the same action. Such an event then causes collective effervescence which excites individuals and serves to unify the group. This concert of vocal music spans centuries, and centers the singers and the audience around the things that excite the passions of groups to move forward together and find strength. We experience this effervescence whether we work together, play together, laugh together or cry together. Even when we fight each other.
