Kairos: A Consort of Singers Spring Choral Concert "A Few of Our Favorite Things"
Kairos: A Consort of Singers, under the direction of Edward Lundergan, will present a delightful program entitled "A Few of Our Favorite Things" in celebration of Kairos' 20th anniversary year. The concert will be held on Sunday, March 16, 2014, at 3:00 PM at St. George's Episcopal Church, 105, Grand Street, Newburgh, New York. The program will feature music for both accompanied and unaccompanied chorus as follows:

- "Mid-Winter Songs" (poems by Robert Graves) by contemporary American composer Morton Lauridsen for piano and chorus

- Luscious accompanied part-songs by Franz Schubert, including the sublime "Psalm 23" for women's chorus and the "Shepherds' Chorus" from Rosamunde

- "Six Chansons" by 20th Century German composer Paul Hindemith

- Palestrina's glorious "Missa Papae Marcellae" (Pope Marcellus Mass)

A set of surprising and unexpected treats including some vocal jazz favorites!

Gary Palmieri will join Kairos as guest accompanist.

Kairos: A Consort of Singers (Dr. Edward Lundergan, Artistic Director) is a select vocal ensemble dedicated to the performance of unaccompanied choral literature from the Medieval to the present.  The group is Artist-in-Residence at Holy Cross Monastery in West Park, New York, and performs in the Hudson Valley and beyond. Kairos regularly performs the church cantatas of J. S. Bach as part of its popular Bach Cantata Series, now in its ninth year. Kairos also presents historically-informed performances of the great Baroque choral works each fall, including the Monteverdi "Vespers," Handel's "Dixit Dominus," Purcell's "King Arthur", and Bach's "Mass in B-Minor" this coming fall. Kairos is celebrating its 20th anniversary as the premiere vocal ensemble of the Hudson Valley and last year released its second CD, "The Valley Sings," featuring choral music by Hudson Valley composers. The CD was released on the MSR Classics label is currently available at www.kairosconsort.org, as well as at a variety of online vendors, including Amazon and iTunes.
