Songwriter Concert Series with Megan Mclaughlin, Jay Howlett, Drew Pearce and Rolfe Wyer
Megan McLaughlin has been an active voice in the East Bay folk scene for 15 years. Megan writes of real life experiences as well as fantasy, mythic tales of the Goddess and reincarnation, all with a backbeat. With songs too personal and intelligent for popular music and full of the clear, meaningful images of life, she is the quintessential folk singer.
Jay Howlett is an award winning singer/songwriter with a powerful baritone voice and talent for storytelling. An accomplished performer with a degree in theatre, Jay writes simple honest songs about life in and around America and the experiences that bring us together and tear us apart. You could call him a troubadour; a storyteller or a performing songwriter, what ever he is Jay continuously engages his audiences. Jay Howlett is a founding member of Blah Blah Woof Woof.
Drew Pearce has been performing in the San Francisco acoustic music scene since he moved to California from Indiana in the late 80s. In 1995, he released a solo record, The Scattering Blue, which featured guest performances by Jim Brunberg and Jeff Pehrson of Box Set, James Lee Harris Jr and Lilly Gobeil of Patchwork and Will Johnson of Meriwether. His song, "Clear," from that record received airplay on KFOG 104.5 FM. In 2002, he released the record, Heat Change Vapor + Snow, with Darrington, an acoustic quartet that included cellist Laura Loescher, guitarist Paul Boutin and percussionist Sage Cohen. He currently hosts a series music workshops and concerts sponsored by Acoustic Guitar magazine that take place the last Sunday of each month at Bay Area Sound Studios in San Rafael.
Rolfe Wyer is a founding member of Blah Blah Woof Woof but dont let that fool you. While lately being seen as Blah Blah Woof Woofs bass player Rolfe has been a performing songwriter for many years, with major label releases haunting his past. Come see one of his few solo performances. He has been a staff music writer and has written songs and composed music for NBC, ABC, and CBS Movies Of The Week, Cagney and Lacey, The Lottery, Fortune Dane, The Smithsonian, San Francisco 49ers Player Intro Theme, The Brady Bunch Sequel, and The East-West Shrine Game Theme.
