Live at the Slipper: Steph Yeager
Singer-songwriter Steph Yeager came by her gritty, soulful sound honestly. Her childhood summers were spent immersed in southern gospel music at her grandpas church in Memphis. At 14, and curious, you could find her guitar in hand surrounded by slam poets in Chicagoland coffee shops and open mics. As a still green musician at 19, she moved to Tennessee, where she immersed herself in delta blues, country, and rock n roll. It would long be a wellspring of material for her songwriting. After several years and various musical projects in TN, she moved to the solitude and vastness of Alaska. Sitting in her cabin with Leonard Cohen on repeat, she found her voice again in the solace and healing of the northern lights and boundless landscape. Steph returned to civilization (kinda), taking up residence in Montana. Her music takes you along with her on this journey from youth and new experiences, to loss and healing, to landing right where you want to be with space to grow.
