An Evening with Robin James and Mark Dudrow
Our feet are firmly planted in spring, yet our heart and soul long to soar with the sounds of the angels. Saturday, May 14, our good friend and cellist Mark Dudrow will introduce us to Robin James and accompany us with the sweetness of Robins voice. Robin hails from Center, Colorado. But her home is in music. As a baby she was literally blanketed in sheet music. Today you hear that depth and richness in her voice, it carries with it the discoveries of youth and its embrace of all music. She will tell you "I love classical. I love blues. I love rock. I love country, I love bluegrass. I love folk". She says her music doesn't fit into a single genre.... Hers is Americana; born of wind-scape high plateau, vast valleys and vistas of snow-capped peaks. Her performance is just that, it puts on full display her rich vocal and songwriting range, from powerful, lulling ballads, pure country to soft emotion, to sassy blues. And nothing is more gratifying than to hear Robins voice accompanied by Mark and his cello. Over the years, I made many testimonies about Marks prowess, and soul, on the cello. Those claims were not hyperbole, and if you've seen and heard him play, you know. Like the notes of a fine wine, his placement of notes is always tasteful, in support of whole. His playing is driven to complement. And sometimes to shine.
