RAS KASS:

Ras Kass sent waves through the hip-hop world with his debut independent single release "Remain Anonymous," earning him a Hip-Hop Quotable in The Source Magazine. Before his signing with Priority/EMI Records, Ras Kass began making guest appearances on several records and freestyles on numerous radio shows, further solidified the emerging lyricist's notoriety.

Ras Kass is a member of the hip hop supergroup The HRSMN along with Canibus, Killah Priest, and Kurupt. Also a member of the group Golden State Warriors with Xzibit and Saafir. Editors of About.com ranked him #30 on their list of the Top 50 MCs of Our Time (19872007). Pitchfork Media called him "one of the best rappers of all time."

From a young age, Austin was influenced by hip hop music, inspired by a variety of emcees including Ice Cube, Rakim, Scarface, and KRS-One. His first album, Soul on Ice, was released in 1996. Taking its name from a book by Eldridge Cleaver, Ras addressed racial relations in the same manner, most notably with "Ordo Abchao" and "Nature of the Threat." The album was released on Priority Records, as was the follow-up, Rasassination, which featured beats from Easy Mo Bee and guest appearances by RZA, Twista, Xzibit, Mack 10 and Dr. Dre.

COLSTON:

CrazyHorse & Colston is a hip hop duo based out of Asheville, North Carolina. As Asheville natives, the two take pride in making music that a wide range of audiences can enjoy. Both MC's were heavily influenced not only by Hip Hop music, but also by Rock, Blues, Folk, and Bluegrass (among others) and have blended many of these genres together to make their latest album, "Backroads & Bonfires," which features many talented local musicians such as Don Lewis of "Sons of Ralph" and members of the popular reggae group "Common Foundation." The two strive to embody the spirit of their Appalachain home while at the same time fighting against a culture of disrespect and superficiality that has become increasingly popular and acceptable in our modern era of music. They believe that this is especially true for hip hop music and seek to reconnect with the roots of this genre and expose audiences to the same raw, creative, and thought-provoking music that they had the benefit of enjoying while growing up.

Along with their DJ, DJ Kilby, the group has performed at places such as Asheville Music Hall, The Garage at Biltmore, The Chop Shop in Charlotte, the Burn Neon Music Festival in Old Fort, and the Blue Plum Festival in Johnson City, TN (to name a few). They were recently featured in the Mountain Xpress' Best of 2012 as the number one Hip Hop group in WNC and had the honor of representing their hometown at the most recent Bele Chere street festival in Asheville, NC. Since the June 2012 release of "Backroads & Bonfires," the two have been touring, making videos, and working hard in hopes of spreading their music to a wider audience.
