Andrew Molina Ukulele Workshop
Tigard Ukulele Group is excited to host Andrew Molina all the way from Hawaii for an in-person workshop. Hawaii based ukulele virtuoso Andrew Molina proves that the ukulele has no limits. Andrews electrifying performances have captivated audiences around the world including Austria, China, England, Scotland, Ireland, Tahiti and of course the U.S. His 3 albums have all been nominated for Ukulele Album of the Year at the prestigious Na Hoku Hanohano music awards, ( Hawaiis version of the Grammys) and he has also been featured on the cover of Englands Uke Magazine. His music has also been featured in video promotions for Hawaiian Airlines and Ocean Vodka. Andrew has also opened the Andrew Molina Ukulele Academy, an online video based instructional course where students can learn at their own pace. From sweet Hawaiian sounds to Aerosmiths Dream On and Guns N Roses Sweet Child O Mine to even the Game of Thrones theme, Andrew along with his dad Jay on bass and guitar prove that anything is possible on the ukulele! He is always striving to take the ukulele to the next level and inspire people of all ages by showing them what is possible on this humble little 4 string instrument.
We all love jamming together, but one thing we can do to make things more musical and fun are more chord options AKA expanding your Chord Vocabulary!
In this workshop, Andrew will give everyone the key to start seeing the fretboard as a map using a couple basic methods. In addition, he will introduce everyone to moveable chords which will give everyone more ways to play their favorite chords. (Fretboard board navigation and moveable chords go hand in hand). At the end of the workshop, Andrew and his dad Jay will play a few songs, as a preview to their concert at the Portland Rose Festival on Sunday May 29th.
