THE MIDNIGHT TRAVELERS and their enigmatic frontman, MR. PETER WOLF, take over the Lizard Lounge for two consecutive nights on December 27 and December 28. Tickets here for the 27th only. The band features Duke Levine, Kevin Barry, Marty Ballou, Tom Arey and Tom West. Since numbers are very limited ticket sales will be limited to two per order.
In a celebration of not just local music but MUSIC in general - look for performances by some special guests as well.
For some, Peter Wolf is the energetic singer of a handful of major hits for The J. Geils Band--"Centerfold," "Freeze Frame," and "Love Stinks." For others, he's the genre-spanning solo artist whose 2002 album Rolling Stone ranked among its 500 Greatest Albums of All Time. Yet those highlights barely scratch the biographical surface of a man who became friends with blues greats Muddy Waters and John Lee Hooker; as a child painted in the studio of Norman Rockwell; as a student at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston roomed with director David Lynch; was the founding program director and disc jockey at Boston's acclaimed FM station WBCN; and led a band for which U2 was once the opening act.
And yet around these parts his is local music fan and aficionado an engaged participant, seen around the vibrant music scene in clubs on both sides of the river.
"This may sound strange," admits Wolf, "but ultimately I don't consider myself a musician; I consider myself a fan. Music is what I do but more importantly it's what I love."
Come and share the love tonight and tomorrow at The Lizard Lounge!
