Yard and Garden Virtual Lectures
The Yard and Garden lecture series runs on six consecutive Saturdays, January 8 through February 12, 2022. Tickets may be purchased for the entire series of six lectures (for the price of five) or for individual lectures. Series ticket holders will have on line access to all lectures for thirty days from their presentation date.
January 8, 2022 Planning your 12-month Garden Linda Gilkeson: Best-selling author of the comprehensive gardening book, "Backyard Bounty: The Complete Guide to year-Round Organic Gardening in the Pacific Northwest." Linda has also authored publications for the Rodale Press and the provincial government of BC on pest management. She has a PhD in Entomology, is a private consultant and educator.
January 15, 2022 How to Successfully Prune Any Shrub Bess Bronstein: Educator, horticultural consultant and ISA Certified Arborist. Bess has over 35 years of experience in arboriculture, landscape management, garden design and teaching college-level courses.
January 22, 2022 Bring Back the Pollinators: Sowing Biodiversity for Bees and Beneficial Insects Eric Lee-Mäder: Co-director of the Pollinator Program at the Xerces Society for Invertebrate Conservation and author of several books about bees, including "Attracting Native Pollinators" and "Farming with Beneficial Insects."

Taking Care of Garden Soils Christina Pfeiffer: With degrees in horticulture and long associations with Plant Amnesty, UW Botanical Gardens, Master Gardeners and the NW Flower and Garden Festival, Christina is committed to practicing and teaching the art and science of horticulture with an emphasis on sustainable and efficient techniques.
February 5, 2022 Local Food System Resilience for Uncertain Times David Seabrook: As a devotee of the Food Systems Resilience movement, David has distinguished himself as a fire district commissioner, a member of the Climate Action and Conservations Futures Committee, a volunteer for the Department of Emergency Management and the Food Systems Unit. He is an active Master Gardener.
February 12, 2022 Cover Crop and Crop Rotations James Cassidy: James has been an instructor of Soil Science at Oregon State University for over 15 years. He is the faculty advisor for the wildly popular OSU Organic Growers Club. He is passionate about soil and how to keep it healthy.
