THE PHOENIX PROJECT: Art in the Time of Climate Emergency
Two years in the making! This dramatic multimedia response to global climate emergency brings together composer/pianist Jennifer Wright on her deconstructed Skeleton Piano with the students of Jennifer Wright Piano Studio on an army of Transmogrified Instruments: 15 mega-sized sound sculptures made entirely of trash, designed and built by the students themselves!

These shows will be carbon-negative: one tree will be planted for every member of the audience and crew (over 400) through Trees For The Future (trees.org).

The one-hour-long PHOENIX PROJECT live performance now reaches audiences for the first time!  For 24 months, Jennifer and her studio engaged deeply with the global environmental crisis through research, sound exploration, aesthetic process, and study of climate art and activism, and the results are unlike anything the world has ever seen!  Featuring all new works in response to the world climate crisis:

- The haunting "All Imaginable Actions Must Be Taken", composed for the never-before-heard, multi-keyboard, experimental instrument "Chimaera"

- Visually and sonically stunning, surprising new works for the worlds only Skeleton Piano, fabric, and electronic effects: "There is No 'Away'" and "Anthropocene (Legacy)"

- A 10-minute mini-documentary film follows Jennifer and her studio on their 24-month journey to create the Transmogrified Instruments

- The grand finale: the massive spectacle of "The Battle Cry of the Phoenix", a call to action featuring the Skeleton Piano and all of the Transmogrified Instruments!  Each incredible, larger-than-life, playable trash structure gets a solo that reveals the wild imaginations of their creators, the students of Jennifer Wright Piano Studio.  This epic response to climate change brings together students from age 5 to adult to express their emotions and visions, and it poses the question, "Which came first: The Phoenix or The Egg?" as two more of Jennifer Wright's never-before-seen, unbelievable sonic inventions are revealed!

Proof of vaccination or a recent negative Covid test required for ages 12+; masks required.  Please be ready to show a photo ID.  Thank you!

Tickets will be sold online until the shows begin; tickets will be available at the door for both shows (cash only).
