This concert marks ASTERs returns to public performance. We are so thankful to be able to sing together in person again.
Where would composers and singers be without poets? During National Poetry month, ASTER salutes poetry with a concert of musical settings of works by familiar poets including Emily Dickinson and E. E. Cummings, along with poems which were written by Jane, Cassandra and Mrs. George Austen when they were playing a parlour game which was popular during their lifetime. The concert also includes settings of E. Pauline Johnsons poem about a lullaby which birds sing, a poetic text written by a womens choir and a poem by Christa Dickason about a sea lions personal ad seeking love.
Choir members Sarah Brennan-Green, Melanie Nehls Burow, Erica Tenent and Allison Zema will perform solos composed by Vincent Persichetti and Alex Craig.
The choir has fallen in love with these pieces and we think that our audience members will too!
