Hope & Reflection with Jeffrey Biegel
The Sanctuary Series welcomes back virtuosic performer, Jeffrey Biegel, to kick-off the fall portion of our 2021  2022 season.

In 1985, Leonard Bernstein said of the pianist: "He is a splendid musician and a brilliant performer."  Those comments together with numerous first place competition prizes helped launch a prolific and varied career as a soloist, composer, arranger and chamber musician. In 2019, Mr. Biegel was soloist for Kenneth Fuchs's Grammy award winning "Piano Concerto Spiritualist with the London Symphony Orchestra.

Chosen as the first pianist to record for the Steinway & Sons label, his performance will feature Bach and Beethoven as well as several new pieces he wrote during the pandemic. One of which, Reflection of Justice: An Ode to Ruth Bader Ginsburg, he premiered on October 7 with the Dallas Symphony Orchestra.

The concert concludes with Gershwin's Rhapsody in Blue.

Bach, arranged Egon Petri: Sheep May Safely Graze

Beethoven: Sonata no. 21 in C Major, Opus 53 (Waldstein)
  Allegro con brio
  Introduzione: Adagio molto
  Rondo. Allegretto moderato

Biegel: Two Waltzes of Hope (March 27 and April 12, 2020)

Three Reflections:
Reflection of Freedom: An Ode to John Fitzgerald Kennedy (2021)
Reflection of Justice: An Ode to Ruth Bader Ginsburg (2020)
Reflection of Equality: An Ode to Martin Luther King (2021)

Gershwin: Rhapsody in Blue (1924)

The Sanctuary Series intends to follow CDC recommendations and all requirements of state and local government. Currently, seating is limited to allow for social distancing. Masks must be worn indoors and all attendees must provide proof of vaccination prior to entry. If you feel ill or have a temperature please do not attend the concert.
