Silent Film At the Fayette Opera House
Join us at the Fayette Opera House for an afternoon of laughter as we present a silent film - The Circus, starring Charlie Chaplin, with musical accompaniment performed by Lynne Long.
The Circus, an American silent film, was released in 1928, and was one of Charlie Chaplins most acclaimed movies, earning him a special Academy Award for directing, producing, and writing the production.
In the film the Tramp (played by Chaplin) joins the circus as an inept janitor only to be exploited for unintended laughs by the cruel owner. The Tramp falls in love with the owners stepdaughter. However, she loves the tightrope walker, and the Tramp walks the tightrope himself in an unsuccessful attempt to win her heart.
