SHADE Movement Presents: Resilient Project- Human Trafficking Training Series
UPDATES HAVE BEEN MADE!!
We are excited to announce the restart of our Resilient Project, we will be offering 5 Survivor Expert-led Human Trafficking training's completely FREE to the community.

We feel it is vital that our young people, communities of Color and LGBTQIA+ are equipped and knowledgeable in order to effectively address this horrific crime that's victimizing our communities.  

All training sessions will take place on a Saturday from 2 PM to 4 PM via zoom!
As much as we were hoping to do in-person trainings, as a society we are just not there yet. Once you register, an email will be sent with training login information. Please do not share as only registered attendances will be admitted.

The list of trainings being offered are:


October 23rd: Intergenerational Impact of Southeast Asian American Trauma and Sexual Exploitation
Trainer: Ummra Hang
War, violence, and misogyny are among some of the deep-rooted issues that Asian peoples have faced throughout history. Recent acknowledgment and documentation of hate crimes against Asian Americans highlight the discrimination and resilience of Asian immigrants and Asian Americans have in the United States. In this presentation, we will discuss the vulnerabilities to human trafficking and the system of generational exploitation faced by the Southeast Asian and refugee communities in the US.

October 30th: The Most Vulnerable: Trafficking in Black Communities
Trainer: Jazmyn Brown
This training covers the unique vulnerabilities that contribute to human trafficking disproportionately affecting black communities. We will look at what human trafficking looks like in black communities through real survivor stories and experiences. This training will also look at societal influences and steps communities and individuals can take to decrease victimization in black communities and promote healing. We will also cover resources for prevention and intervention for those impacted by human and sex trafficking.

November 6th: Human Trafficking 101
Trainer: Virjinia B and Karen Schoonmaker
This training will define Sex Trafficking and Labor Trafficking in the U.S, look at intersections of trafficking and how different forms of trafficking are affecting our local communities, etc.

November 13th: Prevention-Vital
Trainer: Dae'Jahnique Seward
Prevention is designed by a survivor to explore ways to talk about human trafficking within your home, explore healthier ways to make money; as well as exploring some helpful tips and tools for interacting with someone who is engaged within the life still- This course is made to be an open dialogue conversation and will be an intimate space where we can all collaborate on what works and what doesn't. The goal of this forum is to come out with 3 ways to generate income outside of the life/game, ice breakers for younger teens who may be curious, and helpful tips around engagement with those already within the life/the game.

November 20th: The Journey of Healing
Trainer: Andrea Brewer & TBA
In this interactive discussion, we will begin looking at how we understand and define trauma, and how we hold it, collectively and individually, with a focus on sexual trauma and exploitation. We will explore what coping may look like, and how we can support healing for ourselves and in community.
