The first day, November 16, of the inaugural Maryland statewide brownfield conference will offer opportunities for in-person engagement for conference attendees with meet-up group brownfield tours organized throughout the state, followed by social gatherings/networking events at restaurants or breweries near the brownfield sites. Available meet-up group brownfield tours are located as follows:
Eastern Shore Land Conservancy, Easton, MD (former McCord Laundry facility): Tour will be led by Sara Ramotnik, Policy Manager for ESLC; social/networking event will be held at Legal Assets in Easton
Carvel Hall, Crisfield, MD (former manufacturing facility): Tour will be led by Garrett Greenlee, Dir. Engineering and Renewable Energy for Element Consulting Services, LLC; social/networking event will be held at J. Millard Tawes Historical Museum in Crisfield (drinks and appetizers will be provided gratis!)
Rails to trails project, Mount Airy, MD: Tour will be led by Barney Quinn, Mount Airy Town Engineer and Michael Bell, environmental consultant; social/networking event will be held at Twin Arch Tavern in Mount Airy
Carroll Creek, Frederick, MD (creekside former commercial/industrial sites): Tour will be led by Richard Griffin, CeCD, AICP, Director, Department of Economic Development, City of Frederick; social/networking event will be held at Smoketown Creekside brewery in Frederick (food trucks will also be available starting at 5:00!)
Leonardtown Wharf, Leonardtown, MD (former industrial site): Tour will be led by Laschelle McKay, Town Administrator, Leonardtown; social/networking event location will be held at Brudergarten at Shepherd's Old Field Market in Leonardtown (the market shops will also be open for this special event!)
Former B&O Railroad Rolling Mill Plant, Cumberland, MD: Tour will be led by Mayor Ray Morriss; social/networking event will be held at Pat's Pub in Cumberland
Former dry cleaner, Chestertown, MD: Tour will be led by Bill Ingersoll, Town Manager, Chestertown, and Jamie Williams, CEcD, Director, Economic & Tourism Development, Kent County; social/networking event will be held at The Retriever Bar in Chestertown
