University of Chicago Folk Festival
The 49th Annual University of Chicago Folk Festival of traditional music takes place Friday through Sunday, February 6-8, 2009. The festival features three evening concerts in Mandel Hall, 1131 East 57th Street, plus two full days of free workshops, dances and jam sessions in Ida Noyes Hall, 1212 East 59th Street.
The annual jamboree will feature Brian Conway and Brendan Dolan (Irish), Joe Mullins and the Radio Ramblers (Bluegrass), The Rhythm Rats (Old-time Strings), Lisa Ornstein and Andr Marchand (Quebecois), Paul Daigle and Sons (Cajun), Sheila Kay Adams and Amanda Southerland (Appalachian Ballads), Elmore James, Jr. (Blues) and Mary Lane (Blues).
