Best of the Bluff, Year Two: Dynamic Duos
Three of the most virtuosic, tuneful, and popular duos in the repertoire are featured on this program. David Allen Wehr will be joined by PSO Principal Flute Lorna McGhee and Pittsburgh Opera/Ballet Orchestra Concertmaster Charles Stegeman. Francks Sonata for Violin and Piano, a wedding present for the great Belgian violinist Eugene Ysaye, flirts with musical perfection. The sonatas by Poulenc and Prokofieff are masterpieces of the 20th century, showing an almost inexhaustible supply of lovable melodies and brilliant writing for both flute and piano.
