"A palpable sense of infectious goofiness..."
The LA Weekly

Join Fake Radio for a special ONE-NIGHT-ONLY engagement at the famous Arclight Cinema in Hollywood! There we'll be re-creating the original 1947 Lux Radio Theatre's broadcast of the popular holiday classic, "It's a Wonderful Life"! The troupe will be announcing a guest star in the coming days.

Lux Radio Theatre's "It's a Wonderful Life"
George Bailey spends his entire life giving up his big dreams for the good of his town, Bedford Falls, as we see in flashback. But in the present, on Christmas Eve, he is broken and suicidal over the misplacing of an $8000 loan and the machinations of the evil millionaire, Mr. Potter. His guardian angel, Clarence, falls to Earth, literally, and shows him how his town, family, and friends would turn out if he had never been born. George meant so much to so many people; should he really throw it all away? The 1946 film was so popular, that it was re-written for the radio and broadcast in 1947 for the Lux Radio Theatre. Due to his fame and popularity from the film, Jimmy Stewart reprised his role as George Bailey in the radio adaptation!

For over a decade, "Fake Radio" has been delighting audiences and critics alike with their unique re-creations of classic radio shows from 1938 - 1958, "The Golden Age" of the art form. Their shows transport audiences back in time to a live taping of an old-time-radio show. The troupe performs in the same fashion popularized during the Golden Age: cast members dressed in period clothing stand before old microphones, scripts in hand, re-creating classic stories while all of the sound effects are perfectly synchronized. The troupe's well-known hallmark is expertly blending the original broadcast scripts  including the absurd commercials!  with unexpected improvisation.

Over time, the troupe has garnered the respect and participation of a host of well-known actors and comedians. Previous Fake Radio guest stars include:

Emmy Award winners John Larroquette & Marcia Wallace; Comedy legends Fred Willard, The Kids in the Hall, & Phil Proctor from The Firesign Theatre; noted alternative comedians Tom Kenny, Maria Bamford & Rick Overton; well-established TV actors such as Jeff Garlin, John Lynch, Debra Skelton & Dean Cain; and even one of the original cast-members from Saturday Night Live: Larraine Newman.
