Tapas & Tunes Featuring Leah Song of Rising Appalachia and Rob Greenfield on Food Sovereignty
Harvest a spry summers eve with us under the stars for an intimate gathering with friends and family. We are elated to collaborate with Leah Song and Rob Greenfield to bring their unique offerings to life in a treasured environment at The Hawk & Hawthorne in Barnardsville, NC. Our goal for this installment is to raise awareness around food sovereignty. A portion of your ticket will be donated to our NOHMies at Soul & Soil Project to support their ongoing environmental advocacy and direct action building food security in the community. With the purchase of your ticket you will receive access to this special show and a small plate of local organic bites featuring wild foods harvested by Ryan Milt of AVL Wild Food and organically homegrown veggies from Soul & Soils permaculture farm to nourish and rejuvenate your spirits as we dance into summer as a unified collective.

Seating and tables will be available. To ensure maximum comfort on the barn floor or the grassy knolls  feel free to bring a blanket and/or pillow.

Soul & Soil will also have produce boxes for sale featuring organic, seasonal and nutrient rich veggies, herbs, weeds and edible flowers for $30 a piece. If you would like to pre-order a produce box you can add this option to your cart during checkout.

Leah Song (of Rising Appalachia):

Leah Song is a storyteller, song-catcher, musician, poet, and activist known for her role as front woman of Rising Appalachia with her sister Chloe Smith. She incorporates sultry vocals, rhythm, banjo, guitar, ballads, dance, spoken-word and storytelling into her work. Her music is based in the traditions of Southern soul and international roots music. Song engages in social activism and is involved with the environment, food justice, human rights and prisons. She has studied and worked alongside some of the greatest teachers of our time... including Clarissa Pinkola Estés, Martin Shaw, Joanna Macy, Charles Eisenstein, Winona LaDuke, Sobunfu Some, and Rosemary Gladstar... Gathering tools and teachings of resilience, mythology, grief, creative ritual, and rewilding.

Rob Greenfield:

Rob Greenfield is an activist and humanitarian dedicated to leading the way to a more sustainable and just world. He embarks on extreme projects to bring attention to important global issues and inspire positive change. His work has been covered by media worldwide including National Geographic and hes been named The Robin Hood of modern times by France 2 TV.
Robs life is an embodiment of Gandhis philosophy, Be the change you wish to see in the world. In a time when many feel disempowered, he believes that our actions really do matter and that as individuals and communities we have the power to improve the world around us. Parking and Arrival: Parking is in a large field across the street from the property with the two blue dumpsters and the wooden stairs. Please park mindfully in a way which maximizes space, then walk up the wooden steps across the road and up the second driveway all the way up to the barn. This is the driveway that is directly across the street from the staircase. The one further down on the right is the residential driveway and we ask you to respect that access point by not using it. This event is not pet friendly. NO DOGS.
