Title 24 Non-Residential Lighting for Architects

Course description:
The curriculum includes an overview of energy code documentation requirements required for permitting through final inspection using the new forms available from the Energy Commission. The energy code requirements change depending on how an alteration lighting project is showing compliance to the energy code. The course will help participants figure out the best method for a project and demonstrate how that is documented for successful building department review.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES:

Effectively apply the mandatory and prescriptive nonresidential Title 24 Building Energy Efficiency Standards requirements specific to lighting for 2016 and 2019.

Understand the lighting-related requirements in the 2019 Title 24 Building Energy Efficiency Standards code.

Identify current lighting technologies, including LED luminaires, that are available to fulfill code requirements.

Access resources through utility and lighting technology training centers for continued professional development.

Martin Vu is an Engineer with over 24 years of exceptional service experience, who founded RMS Energy Consulting with the goal of helping California achieve an economically and environmentally sustainable energy future. His experience covers the entire energy efficiency engineering spectrum. He has a comprehensive understanding of California's energy policies and long-term strategic direction.  Additionally, as a California Technical Forum (CALTF) Member, Martin is one of 35 energy efficiency professional experts who address key issues relating to engineering workpapers and ex-ante reporting to regulating bodies, including the CPUCs Energy Division and statewide investor-owned utilities. Martin received his Bachelor's degree in Electronics and Computer Engineering Technology and his Masters's in Business Administration (MBA) from California State Polytechnic University, Pomona. He also obtained his Project Management Professional (PMP) certification from the University of California, Irvine, and completed his Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from Trinity Law School
