Brave New Play Rites Full Production - Syco

For 35 years, Brave New Play Rites has been staging new short plays by emerging playwrights studying in the Creative Writing Program at UBC. This year, to follow health and safety mandates from the BC government due to Covid-19, we have moved our entire festival online. Ten full productions of short plays have been filmed, each one to be released daily from April 17th, for you to enjoy from the safety of your own home!

Our tenth short play is - "Syco" by Paul Van Dyck.

Syco is a comedy about an actor trying to perform an outdoor poetic re-imagining of The Tempest but is interrupted by a woman living on the street who may or may not be an actual witch.

Syco is directed by Moya O'Connell and features the performances of Michael Bell as Actor, and Rahat Saini as Syco
