Brave New Play Rites Full Production - Takaya
For 35 years, Brave New Play Rites has been staging new short plays by emerging playwrights studying in the Creative Writing Program at UBC. This year, to follow health and safety mandates from the BC government due to Covid-19, we have moved our entire festival online. Ten full productions of short plays have been filmed, each one to be released daily from April 17th, for you to enjoy from the safety of your own home!
Our second short play is - "Takaya" by Jiejun Wu.
Takaya is a drama about an emerging Asian Canadian writer who searches for her place in the literary world, grappling with the industrys inequities through the telling of a story about a beloved lone wolf.
Takaya is directed by Marifer Douglas and features the performances of Yoora Kang as Helen, and Jobina Sitoh as Vy.
