The culmination of Linklater's collaborative romantic trilogy catches up with Celine and Jesse another nine years later at the end of a summer vacation in Greece. The two are now officially a couple and the parents of two little girls but, as the pressure of the future and the stress of their life choices weigh on them, the tension of the film becomes whether they will reconcile instead of whether they will get together.
