Grupo Falso Baiano
Grupo Falso Baiano is a Bay Area based choro group that has been playing together for ten years. Choro is often likened to the rag-time music of Brazil and is experiencing a resurgence both in Brasil and abroad.
Choro is a tasty mix of European and African beats that is decidedly upbeat and interactive. To learn more about this music, listen to this interview that features members of Grupo Falso Baiano - http://www.californiareport.org/archive/R201109301630/c
We are excited to have Jesse Appelman (mandolin) back from an extended leave and will be featuring a night of traditional choro, samba and northeastern songs. We will be playing some of the new arrangements that feature Brian Moran on 7-string guitar, Zack Pitt-Smith on reeds and Ami Molinelli - pandeiro and percussion.
