Fiery Fingers and Warm Art Lieder for a Winter afternoon
DANK Haus German American Cultural Center presents an afternoon with a distinguished choice of German Classics in the Marunde Ballroom.
Enjoy a journey through some of the loveliest examples of German Baroque, Classic and Romanticism.

The Program

Elizabeth Doyle singing French Art Songs including

Pianist Mark Valenti in select Preludes from J.S. Bach's Well Tempered Clavier

Correlli's Concerto grosso in G minor, Op. 6, No. 8, known commonly as his Christmas Concerto, in a special transcription for string quartet. The piece was commissioned by Cardinal Pietro Ottoboni and published posthumously in 1714 as part of his Twelve concerti grossi, Op. 6. The concerto bears the inscription Fatto per la notte di Natale ("Made for the night of Christmas"). It was composed around 1690, since there is a record of Corelli having that year performed a Christmas concerto for the enjoyment of his then-new patron.

Antonin Dvorak's Piano Quintet No. 2 in A major, Op. 81 which was composed between August 18 and October 8 of 1887. The quintet is acknowledged as one of the masterpieces in the form, along with those of Schubert, Schumann, Brahms, Shostokovich.

Kim Duncan - Violin
Nora Williams - Viola
Martine Benmann - Cello
