ASHLEY BEA LIVE AT THE FLYING BEAVER PUBARET!

ASHLEY BEA

Ashley Bea known for her colorful, angelic voice and vivacious charm, was born in Toronto and is from a multicultural background which exposed her to a wide variety of genres from classical to soul and hip hop. Ashley began her musical studying classical voice with soprano Denise Williams and Elaine Overholt. In the late 90's she became immersed in neo soul music movement inspired by artists like Erykah Badu and Jill Scott.

In 2011 Bea entered the Spectra Talent Contest and placed second. During which time she met her current vocal coach Micah Barnes who encouraged her to begin songwriting. Toward the end of 2011 Ashley started to compose at an astonishing pace.

By the end of that year, she was actively working as a back up singer for Jackson Live and Out Music award nominee Suzanne Nutall performing at such venues as LEE'S PALACE, THE EL MOCAMBO and ANNEX LIVE to name a few. She also recorded the back up vocals for Suzanne's iTunes single "I SEE WILD HORSES", and "TROPHY WIFE" Currently Ashley Bea is writing and performing with a 9 piece band, made up of the Toronto hip hop/jazz ensemble THE FLOW.

Ashley Bea exhibits love and conditions of the human experience in her music. This, combined with her delightfully positive outlook on life, make her a very warm musical personality who is a joy to watch on stage.
