ASME STS - Presents - "Securing Fresh Water for Today & Tomorrow."
Topic Summary:
After witnessing significant elevation subsidence due to growing fresh water needs in Harris County, Texas from the 1960s to the 1990s, the NHCRWA was created in 1999. This Water Authority's board had oversight of a massive multi-billion-dollar regional water supply project. Without this especially important project, many areas of Harris County would not have water for the future. This project ensures that the Greater Houston Area will always have an adequate supply of potable drinking water.
Speaker Information:
Alan Rendl has a BBA from Northwestern University and is the President of the NHCRWA (North Harris County Regional Water Authority). He was a career executive with Exxon retiring in 1995 after 35 years with the company. Alan led the fight during the 1997 and 1999 Texas Legislative sessions to pass responsible legislation to give north Harris County voters control over their own future water supplies. Alan is dedicated to ensuring the Houston area has an adequate supply of potable water both now and long into the future.
