The story of a young girl named Thumbelina who meets a fairy prince but is kidnapped from her home by a toad whose idiot son becomes enamored with her. She refuses to marry him and is stranded on a lily pad. Her nature friends rescue her but she is again kidnapped by a beetle. After fleeing from the beetle's lair, she is saved from the cold by a kindly mouse who tries to marry her off to a mole. Unable to go through with the marriage, she runs away just before the prince finds her and is taken to Fairyland by her bird friend, Jacquima. The prince returns to Fairyland and finds Thumbelina there where they marry and a full celebration ensues.
