Left Coast Chamber Ensemble 3: Bach, Schumann, and Kurtag - Homages
Great composers often look reverently to other musicians works for inspiration. In this program we honor some of those connections between great minds. Hungarian Gyorgy Kurtag is famous for both his unique voice and his frequent homages to others compositions. On this program Left Coast Chamber Ensemble performs Kurtag's tributes to Bach and Schumann, as well as works by those composers, including the warm and delightful Schumanns Fairy Tale Pieces. In an interesting juxtaposition, we will also hear Share, a piece by contemporary Bay Area composer Belinda Reynolds alongside Bachs Sonata for flute.
