Oak Park Preschool Parenting Workshop - Cooking with Preschoolers
Cooking with your preschooler can seem intimidating and like you're inviting a mess into your kitchen. However, with some thoughtful preparation, the right tools, and a few tricks, your time together in the kitchen can be a joyful, not-too-messy and delicious experience. What's more, including children in what we might see as just another daily chore actually provides them with the hands-on application of an abundance of science and math concepts that few activities can match.
Chris Nied is a teacher of three-, four-, and five-year-olds at First United Nursery School who has made cooking and baking a regular part of his classroom curriculum.
