BYOS- Build Your Own Show Workshop Series with Rachel Resnik and Rui Dun
Have you ever wanted to write a show? Are you burning with a story to tell? Did you promise your-in-quarantine-self that you were going to write it, and then panicked for months straight and didnt? Or do you have so many ideas but nowhere to begin? We are here for you. This four-part workshop will help you find the tools and focus you need to Build Your Own Show from start to finish. No matter what background you come from, this workshop is designed to help you generate ideas, build content, find structure, and polish them up to build a show that belongs to no other but YOU!
The workshop will be held over Zoom, but it is for both virtual and live shows. The group meets for two hours every week with a different focus of the show building process. Here is what each week looks like:
Week One: Brainstorming and pitching. Learn how to generate and pitch an idea. Also how to pitch ON ideas to inspire creativity.
Week Two: A page of content. Use the tools from Week One to build a one-pager that will be the stepping stone to building your show.
Week Three: Write and rewrite. "Just know that everyone' writing is terrible. Until it's not. You gotta work it. Refine it. Shape it. Spend time with it. It's a relationship. Between you and what comes from you." - Ava Duvernay
Week Four: Put on that show. Pick up the polisher and lets make sure the show is ready for the road. But wait, there is so much more to be done. Leave with a list so you know you are ready when time comes.
