No-Till Hemp at Astarte Farm
Join us online for a virtual farm tour and interactive conversation about no-till hemp farming here in Massachusetts. Astarte Farm is a 100 percent no-till, no-spray, certified organic market garden. Since 2000 they have prioritized soil health and sustainability in their mission to deliver tasty, high-quality, fruits and vegetables. Astarte Farm grows multiple strains of hemp for cannabinoid production in partnership with Heritage CBD. We will learn from Dan, along with farm managers, Ellen and Amelia about their no-till hemp cultivation practices and how hemp fits into their farms goal to build healthy soil.
Heritage CBD is a local processor that works with local farms to produce high-quality small batch CBD products. Josh from Heritage CBD will speak about their harvesting practices and processing facilities. We will hear about how they partner with local hemp growers and are developing strains of hemp suitable to our New England climate. We will have time at the end of the presentation for questions and conversation.

About Astarte Farm: In 2015 Astarte Farm began transitioning to become one of the first 100 percent no-till commercial farms in the area, and since then, has continued to explore what it means to "grow sustainably". Astarte now uses occultation, solarization, pollinator habitats, crop rotation, companion planting, cover crop cocktails, paper mulches, grown-in-place mulches, and more, in its inclusive approach to organic farming. The farm continues to gain recognition for its high-quality produce, which can be found at various markets and restaurants throughout the Pioneer Valley.
About the Instructors:
