Samantha Kushnick is a cellist, singer and songwriter in the folk tradition. She has toured nationally with the Portland Cello Project and Typhoon, and she performs with the Vancouver Symphony in Washington state. Raised in a musical family (her great-uncle, Fred Hellerman, is a founding member of the folk quartet The Weavers), Sami began studying cello at the age of ten and graduated from the Oberlin Conservatory in 2007.In April, she released her debut solo record, entitled One Room House. The album is graced with performances by some of Portland's finest musicians. Nick Jaina and Matt Berger (drummer for the Portland Cello Project and Laura Gibson) appear on the record as do Anna Fritz of the Cello Project and Jay Cobb Anderson and Mimi Naja of the string band Fruition. The style of One Room House varies greatly. It ranges from folk-inspired arrangements of voice, pedal steel, fiddle and finger-picked cello to lush orchestral layering of bowed string instruments along with voice, strummed cello, drums, and electric guitar.

"Anna Tivel (recording with her band as Anna and the Underbelly) brings a raft of beautiful songs with brine-soaked images of Pacific Northwest tidepools, oceans, and the birds that wheel above them in the gray skies."  - Devon Leger,  No Depression.   Anna mixes small town melodies with words found on the sidewalks of the city. Each song is a gently written attempt to sort out the reasons behind the people and places that hold us. Her music is lyric-driven, honest, and hopeful.

"Jeff Martin's a marvelous songwriter, effortlessly drawing out fully-fleshed stories and lush natural metaphors from a simple folk music structure. He's an incredibly rare find among today's glut of singer-songwriters; a songwriter whose songs are immediately affecting. These are the kind of songs that can change you."  Devon Leger, No Depression. "Jeff's CD Gold in the Water is full of soul and stunning poetry and he puts it all out there with a voice like finely aged whiskey and a touch of honey. Stellar songwriting combined with first-rate guitar work, make him a voice that stands out in the crowd. I say drop what you are doing, put his CD in the CD player and go lie on the couch. You'll be delighted that you did."  Karen Olch, KRVM-FM, Acoustic Junction.
