Traverse City Dance Project No-Distance Festival
The Traverse City Dance Project is proud to present the No-Distance Festival, an online music and dance festival in support of artists during this unprecedented crisis. Curators Jennifer McQuiston Lott and Hajnal Pivnick have assembled and commissioned teams of choreographers and composers to create together from the safety of their homes. The festival is an ongoing celebration of artistic creativity under extreme limitations.
On August 28, 2020, we present a new work by vocalist, composer, and performance artist Holland Andrews and dancer, choreographer, and filmmaker Marissa Brown. Our second team includes dancer, choreographer, and filmmaker Liana Kleinman, choreographer and creative director Michael Spencer Phillips, and composer Darian Donovan Thomas. The program will air at 9:30pm EST / 6:30pm PST. On the day of the performance, the link to the YouTube premiere will be sent to you. The performance is donation based and the donations will go to support these artists.
Join us 15 minutes before the show to chat with the artists in the Youtube comments!
Performances last 20-30 minutes and will continue roughly every three weeks from May 22-October 2nd. Future dates are possible. Artists will be announced two weeks in advance, and include dancers and musicians from across a broad spectrum of styles and backgrounds.
