Little Walter Harp Blowout is a concept of a cross-country meeting of the minds between California and East Coast musicians. All have known each other for years. The rhythm section, have played in bands since high school but all share a deep passion for REAL BLUES.

Singer and Harmonica master MARK HUMMEL- has just finished his blues memoir "Big Road Blues: 12 Bars On I-80" on MountainTop Press. Here's what a few musicians think of Hummel's book debut:

"This book ought to be required reading for ANY aspiring blues musician. I LOVED IT!"
Huey Lewis

"Not as bad as I thought it might be. Well written. I think many will enjoy reading it"
Charlie Musselwhite

"A great read. There haven't been too many books written about the West Coast blues scene and specifically harmonica players, so Mark's story helps fill in the gaps from a personal point of view."
John Mayall

Hummel's been steadily on the road since 1984 and released 17 albums and CDs since starting out. His latest is a Little Walter Tribute called BLUE AND LONESOME. Hummel has recorded for Flying Fish,Tone Cool and ElectroFi Record(his current) labels since the early 90s. Mark's been nominated for three years in a row for Best Harmonica by the BMA Awards. Hummel's has been performing and producing the BLUES HARMONICA BLOWOUTS in CA. since 1991 and has performed with these multi artists events with the top players in the genre all across the planet.

"Mark Hummel came of age in the early 70s, at the height of rock and roll, like many of his peers went and bought a harmonica and hasn't stopped playing since. A specialist in West Coast Blues he's a seasoned showman who knows more than a thing or two about how to please an audience."  says THE NEW YORKER

Steve Guyger-  based out of Philadelphia is one of the finest Harmonica player and singers in the world today. When Guyger is not playing with Mark Hummel he fronts The Excellos.

Sugar Ray Norcia  is the leader of the Bluetones, and the pre-eminent harmonica player from New England.  Sugar Ray has played with most every living blues legend and has worked regularly with Ronnie Earl, Hubert Sumlin,  Duke Robillard, Big Walter Horton, Bob Margolin and many more.

LITTLE CHARLIE BATY-is the former leader and masterful guitarist from Alligator Records recording act "Little Charlie & the Nightcats". Charlie and the Nightcats have recorded 12 albums on Alligator and have been one of the West Coast's most successful blues acts, touring the globe for over 25 years. They've played every major Festival you can think of and every blues joint from Maine to Spain.

Guitar World declares, "Baty's straight blues playing is eye-popping...he stretches solos to the breaking point, skittering on the edge, where one wrong note will bring the whole thing crashing down." "Little Charlie Baty plays as much guitar as Eric Clapton and Buddy Guy put together," raves The Village Voice. "He is one of the swiftest, most fluent guitarists working in any genre".

Opening act is James Day & the Fish Fry, a Jump Blues and New Orleans Grooves band.

This show is a warm up concert for the upcoming Lancaster Roots and Blues, A Festival of Music, featuring 50 artists in two days at 5 venues on 9 stages.  Feb. 21 and 22, 2014.
