Directed by Mevlut Akkaya & Ron Frank
USA, 2013, 77 min
English, Documentary

Why are there so many Jewish comedians?  The answer- the Catskill Mountains- AKA the Borscht Belt,  - boot camp for the greatest generation of Jewish-American comedians. Lush farmland was turned into the 20th century's largest resort complex, the setting for a remarkable group of young comedians to hone their craft.  The honor roll is long  from old pros like Sid Caesar to "kids" like Gabe Kaplan. With narration by comedian, actor, and singer Robert Klein, many return here to talk about the glory days when the Catskills were affectionately known as "the Jewish Alps." "Hilariously funny and delightfully nostalgic." Jennifer Merin, About.com
