Here is an excerpt from a note from Tina: But as I was in ER with my youngest, I had a renewed sense of appreciation for the medical profession. They did their jobs well and took excellent care of my little guy. Even Dante did well getting blood drawn, getting an IV and going to imaging for an ultrasound. He has Autism and isn't really good at verbalizing what is going on, but cooperated with everyone without too much complaining. What a brave little trooper. After they took his blood and set up an IV, he said, 'I'm gonna need a band aid.' I appreciate all of you who helped. One of the best RN's ever worked on my youngest. His name is Kevin and he works at Meridian Hospital. That man was on the ball. And Dante's main doctor calls me this evening to check up on him and offered support. Not once has any mainstream medical doctor I've had in Portland called me to find out how I or any family member was doing. I expect it from a Naturopath, but not an M.D. His name is Dr. Katz. and his office is in Bridgeport. So, that was really amazing to me and it was these acts that shattered my displeasure at the medical profession. I'm so grateful.
And to top it off, perfect strangers must have picked up on my distraught demeanor and asked how I was doing. I replied authentically and told them I was afraid. Their replies were simply amazing. I got a sense I was being watched over. It help relieve some of this worry. Although, we are still not over this, I feel a little stronger and I can surrender some of my worry.
